Summary
This book is a fable (like Our Iceberg Is Melting) that talks about changes and teams. In this case, we follow two mini–persons that are like super addicted to cheese, and their job is to steal cheese from normal big people (this is literally the plot hahah)
So, one day, they found a warehouse of different cheeses, so they decided that this place had cheese for all their lives. Day after day, they ate cheese and gave it for free to everyone without counting it, just believing that it was enough for everyone and all their lifetime. At the same time, two mice found their warehouse, and they also ate it.
At some point, the Ratatouilles noticed that they were running out of cheese, then decided to move on and look for another prey. The mini-people were so blind that they could not see that scarce, so they just ate until one day they arrived and found nothing. At first, both of them started to look for the culprits, who ate our cheese????
One of them realized that they were the eaters, no one else… so now they can spend all their life waiting for the warehouse to be refilled by big humans or going again to the adventure of looking for new ones. When he shared his thoughts with his peer, this fellow was attached to the place that refused to go again in adventures, he wanted this comfortable life again in this warehouse and no other. While this mini-human waited for the miracle, the other one started his journey and, finally, discovered a bigger warehouse with even more cheese.
There he found the two mice eating cheese and asked how they could be there so fast. They just told him that when they saw the lack of cheese, without thinking, they just restarted the search for new places. Then, the mini-human realized that they had entered a comfort zone that limited them, so they decided that, for this warehouse, he was going to look for how much there is and never stop the search. And hoped that someday his peer was going to realize all these.
Conclusions
This book shows how sometimes nature is more logical than us. Mice do not get comfy, they just look for new things and do not relax too much. They enjoy eating, but never stop the journey.
In Astrea, I think, that we have not arrived at any comfort zone yet, so maybe that is why I can not put into practice these lessons. I am going to try to remember them the day that we are going to face something similar, at some point, for sure we are going to.
Outside of the company, like a person, we can all get an example of this book! Everyone is, sometimes, too comfy. For example, as juveniles, we can think that eating well or doing some sport is not that important because we are healthy now, but one day, we will notice this lack of effort. If you do not eat well now, for sure at your 50s you won’t be able to change your habits (or it is going to be harder), and then you will see the effects.
We can choose if we want to be the mini-person that refuses to change, that wants to stay in their beloved iceberg and does not want to see that it is melting, or we can be the person that is resilient, that adapts and creates new paths. It is up to us!
